Bird Watchers will know of the Farne Islands and their many seabirds. Taking a trip from Seahouses on one of the many trips around the islands will bring you up close to the gulls and guillemots, puffins ( our favourite ) and all the other species that still live there.

It was St Cuthbert, living on Farne, who framed the first law protecting wild birds, and the Eider duck, which still lives here, is known as a ‘cuddy duck’ locally in remembrance.

Take a wildlife excursion with Northern Experience Wildlife Tours.

Although we enjoy a variety of garden birds here in Longhoughton, You’ll need to travel further to see the more unusual sights of the county.
Sites such as Druridge Bay, Budle Bay, and inland the secluded valleys of the Cheviots all offer a range of opportunities to see wildlife.
