Gardens and Northumberland means the Alnwick garden these days, and we’re just down the road if you want to spend the day there. There are other gardens to visit though.
Perhaps the next finest is Lord Armstrong’s at Rothbury - about 12 miles or a half hour away.

Just up the coast road is Howick - a splendid and little known gem.
